What to do if You’re in a Car Accident

Sometimes no matter how good of a driver you are, car accidents are just completely unavoidable. You may just find yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time. If you do happen to find yourself in this unfortunate situation, it definitely helps a ton if you know what to do afterwards.

Stay Safe

Staying safe is most important. If you are hurt, seek medical attention as soon as possible. If anybody else involved in the accident is hurt, get them help right away as well. Try to get your vehicle into a safe location. If you are in the middle of the road or blocking traffic, try to move over to the side of the road if you can. If you can’t move, stay inside of your vehicle and stay buckled in.

Gather Information

No matter how big or small an accident is it needs to be reported. You will need to call the authorities and stay put until they arrive. You must talk to everybody that was involved in the accident and exchange information with them. This would include name, phone number, address, and insurance information. If there are any witnesses present try to get their information as well. Take pictures of the accident if you are able to. After everything is all said and done at the scene of the accident you will need to report the accident to your insurance company. It is then that you will need to decide who is at fault.
